Natural induction (labor)
Induction is a method of artificially or prematurely stimulating labour in a pregnant woman. There are several artificial methods of stimulating labour but these may increase the propensity of having a caesarian section[1]
Methods
There are many methods of natural induction:
- Castor Oil - Causes Digestive contractions leading to Uterine contractions
- Enema - Causes Digestive contractions leading to Uterine contractions
- Sexual intercourse - Semen can ripen the Cervix due to effects of prostaglandin, Orgasm can start uterine contraction
- Nipple stimulation - Causes uterine contractions
- Hypnosis - The mind-body connection can release helpful hormones Hypnotherapy in childbirth
